    Services for Mrs. O’neta Cumbie Self, age 83 of Lindale, are scheduled for Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale with Pastor Tom Buck officiating. A private interment will be held in the Edgewood Cemetery in Lancaster, Tx. Neta died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. She was born February 19, 1933 in Eden, Texas to the late Isaac and Rosie Hitchcock.

    She had been a resident of Lindale for four years, formerly of Poetry, Tx. She grew up in San Angelo, Tx and then Lancaster, Tx. She lived in Dallas, Tx, while raising her family. Moving to Lindale to be near her son and daughter in law, Bill & Jeanie.

    She worked as an accountant in the automobile industry, retiring in 1990.

    Neta had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lindale. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her passions in life were quilting and painting. She was a gifted landscape artist. Neta spent many years volunteering her time quilting for children through her church in Poetry. She loved taking part in bible study, gospel singing & playing almost any kind of games, especially Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

    She is preceded in death by her first husband, John Robert Cumbie and second husband, Lloyd Self, her parents, daughters, Beverly Duggins & Margaret Cumbie and brothers, Harold & Ralph Hitchcock.

    She is survived by son, Bill Cumbie and his wife, Jeanie of Lindale; grandchildren, Rodney Cumbie of Dallas; and Christy (Rob) Wiggins of Dallas; 3 great grandchildren, Alexis McPeak, Colton Cumbie & Callie Cumbie; step-children, Ron (Kathy) Self, Larry (Jan) Self, Vickie (Ernie) Kline, Donna (Frankie) Maroquin and Christie Self; 3 sisters, Pauline (Larry) Yates, Wanda (Steve) Hammock, and Pat (Bobby) Jones; multiple cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

    Neta was loved by all who knew her. Always leading by example. She will be greatly missed.

    The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale.
