    Mary June Tillman Means of Liberty, Texas, passed away in Liberty at the age of 87, on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. Mary June was born in Liberty, Texas, on December 10, 1928, to the late Robert and Helen Hackenberger Tillman. She attended Lon Morris College and was a homemaker for the most of her life. Mary June will best be remembered for her passionate love of animals and tireless care for them. She loved cats, but she also rescued dogs, raccoons, squirrels and even a pair of bobcat kittens. Mary June especially enjoyed reading, spending time outside, collecting dolls and fishing at Lake Livingston. She appreciated her friends and enjoyed sharing stories that made people laugh. She was always laughing at something that "tickled" her.

    Mary June was preceded in death by her husband, Claude E. Means, her parents, Robert and Helen Hackenberger Tillman, and her brother, Robert "Bobby" Tillman. She is survived by her daughter, Linda and husband, Benjamin G. Sterling II of Austin, her son, Charles W. "Billy" Smith of Carrabelle, Florida, her daughter, Kay Lynn Darling of Trinity, her daughter, Francesca and husband, Louis Whitaker of Spring, and daughter-in-law, Pamela Doucette of Saratoga. In addition, Mary June is survived by her nine grandchildren: Lisa Harding Elzner and husband, Rob of Austin, Jason Harding of Austin, Stephanie Meadows and husband, John of Romayer, Victoria Ard and husband, William of Batson, Joyce Fregia of Saratoga, Rodney Fregia and wife, Tracey of Saratoga, Karen Kenvyn Edmondson and husband, Chad of Jennings, Louisiana, Tamatha Kenvyn White, and husband, Devon of San Antonio, and Robert "Robbie" Kenvyn of Lake Arthur, Louisiana. She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. The family wants to thank Mary June’s caregiver, Delores Grey, for all of her love and care, and Marsha DeDear, a very special and close friend of the family. Mary June will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

    A funeral service for Mary June will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and burial at Cooke Memorial Cemetery will follow the service. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.allisonfuneralservice.com.
