George Clinton Rich II
George Clinton Rich II, age 82 passed away Saturday December 19, 2015 at Magnolia Place Nursing Home. George was born in Wharton, Texas March 10, 1933 the son of the late Albert Rich and Valta Wheeless Rich. George graduated from El Campo High School and went on to attend at the University of Texas. In his third year at UT, he volunteered for the Army and served during the Korean Conflict. After his years of service he started his career at Raytheon and later joined NASA until his retirement. While at NASA he worked as a Design Engineer and developed numerous designs used on the Apollo as well as space shuttle projects. His specialty at NASA was in Vibroacoustic, an important aspect for the reentry into the earth atmosphere. George leaves behind to cherish his memory his sisters; Gerry Crossky of Colmesneil, TX and Jo Ann Gunter and husband Pete of Liberty, TX. He also leaves his nieces and nephews; John Dearman, Gary Dearman, Sherry Jordan, Randy Gunter, and Kelly Cooper. In addition he leaves numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces as well as a special group of children he considered almost as his own; Theresa, Bridgette, Karen, Kelly, and Roger Chapman. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. A funeral service will be held 11AM Tuesday December 22, 2015 at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N.
