    TRUE AMERICANJAMES LEE THOMPSON, SR. WAS BORN TO A. H. THOMPSON AND MARIE EHRHARDT ON JANUARY 18, 1925 IN KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI. JIM, 89, PASSED AWAY JANUARY 2, 2015 IN PLANO, TEXAS. JIM WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS WIFE MARY ELIZABETH OF 35 YEARS, HIS SON JOE AND HIS DAUGHTER DIANNA. HE IS SURVIVED BY THREE SONS; LARRY AND WIFE LINDA OF GREENVILLE, TEXAS, JAMES, JR. AND WIFE SHERRY OF HAMILTON, TEXAS, AND DANNIE AND WIFE DEBRA OF KRUM, TEXAS; A DAUGHTER SUSAN AND HUSBAND MARK OF OF HIGHLAND VILLAGE, TEXAS; SEVEN GRANDSONS, BOBBY, CHRIS, JOEY, ZACK, JESSIE, JOHN AND CORY; ONE GRANDDAUGHTER CHRISTIE; THREE GREAT-GRANDSONS, BRENTON, TYLER AND OLIVER; TWO GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTERS, LAUREN AND SIENNA AND ONE GREAT-GREAT-GRANDSON, GABRIEL.HE GREW UP DURING THE DEPRESSION. HE JOINED THE ARMY IN 1943 WHERE HE SERVED IN EUROPE DURING WORLD WAR II. HE CAME HOME TO KANSAS CITY IN 1945. HE KICKED AROUND, HAD FUN, ENJOYED LIFE. IN 1948 HE MET THE LADY THAT WOULD BECOME HIS WIFE, MARY ELIZABETH, THEY WERE MARRIED SEPTEMBER 3, 1949. HE HAD AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS UNTIL MARY MADE HIM CLOSE IT BECAUSE HE DID MOST OF THE WORK FOR FREE. HE THEN WENT TO WORK FOR SAFEWAY IN 1951. HE MOVED HIS FAMILY TO GARLAND, TEXAS AND RETIRED FROM SAFEWAY IN 1978. IN 1981 HE MET HAZEL MARSHALL WITH HAZEL'S HOT SHOT SERVICE AND BECAME A DRIVER FOR HER UNTIL APRIL, 2005 WHEN HE RETIRED. HE ENJOYED HIS RETIREMENT DOING AS HE PLEASED AND GOING TO THE CASINOS AND OUTINGS WITH HIS CHILDREN, LIKE RIDING HIS SCOOTER TO SONIC WITH HIS GREAT-GREAT-GRANDSON, GABRIEL.THE PALLBEARERS ARE JAMES THOMPSON, DANNIE THOMPSON, MARK PETTY, JOHN ADAMS, CORY THOMPSON, AND JEREMY O'KELLEY.FAMILY VISITATION IS AT DALTON AND SON FUNERAL HOME IN LEWISVILLE, TEXAS ON TUESDAY JANUARY 6. 2015 BETWEEN 6-8 P.M. GRAVESIDE SERVICE WILL BE AT HILLCREST MEMORIAL PARK DALLAS, TEXAS JANUARY 7, 2015 AT 11 A.M. ANYONE THAT WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK IS WELCOME TO.
