    Eugene "Trey" Holland Flewellen III, age 71 of Plano, Texas, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015. Trey was born January 1, 1944 in Louisiana.

    He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth "Liz" Flewellen, father Eugene Flewellen Jr., brother Lawrence Flewellen, mother-in-law Jean Englund, and nephew Eric Clark.

    Trey is survived by his daughter Lori Flewellen-Tran, son-in-law Thien Tran, grandsons Brant and Brody Tran, mother Portia Flewellen, sister Jane Flewellen, brother-in-law Jim Lahm, nephews Brian and Benjamin Clark, and cousin Susan Rodriguez.

    Trey was a graduate of Hillcrest High School, University of Texas (undergraduate, medical school, and residency) and was a proud member of Phi Beta Kappa fraternity. He served as a doctor for four years in the U.S. Army, Fort Polk, LA. He was a professor of anesthesiology at University of Texas, Galveston for many years and received teacher of the year honors. He was an expert of and published numerous research papers on malignant hyperthermia. He also was staff anesthesiologist at several hospitals in Texas and Dallas and was an early member of Pinnacle Anesthesia.

    Trey was well liked by most people who knew him as he was easy-going, generous, humble, smart and non-judgmental. He loved blues music, had an extensive recordings collection and enjoyed blues cruises. Wooden model ship building and reading were life-long passions. He was most grateful to be living with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons, who were all a bright spark in his life. He will be greatly missed by all his family.

    A memorial visitation will be held to honor his memory on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 7:00pm-9:00pm at Dalton and Son Funeral Home in Lewisville.
