ALVIN, TX – Mr. John Weldon Derouen passed from this life Sunday, May 31, 2015, at his home in Alvin.
Born August 8, 1924 in Lake Charles, LA, John had been a resident of Alvin, previously of Houston. John had served in the U. S. Navy from 1941 – 1949, was a 1949 graduate of Duke University, had worked as a CPA and Attorney since 1954 and taught business law and accounting for several years at University of Houston Downtown campus. He was a member of Light Christian Center in Alvin.
Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Winnie; and his sons, Drake and Doug, survivors include his wife of 9 years, Lois (Bootsie) Derouen of Alvin; sons, Troy and his wife, Lisa of Houston, Dru Weldon and his wife, Brenda of Alvin; daughter, Johnette Norman and her husband, Carl of El Lago; grandchildren, Jayme, John Newton, David Paul, Leslie, Christi, Shawn, Shelby, LaNee’, Bryan, Carrie; great grandchildren, Avery, Jack, Aubrey and Blakelynn.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015, in the Chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Pastor Paul Golden officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be John Newton Brawner, David Paul Derouen, Shawn Derouen, Cody Reeves, Juan Castro and Mark Turvey.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
