Mary Catherine Patterson
Mary Catherine Patterson "Katy", 99, passed away on February 03, 2016 at her residence.
Katy was born on May 14, 1916 in Kansas City, MO, to Fred P. Ryan and Mamie Oâ€™Rourke Ryan. She was a high school graduate and married Frank E. Patterson in 1939. Katy worked in retail sales in Kansas City and then joined F. W. Woolworth & Co. as personnel manager for 20 years until retirement.
Katy moved from Kansas City to Harlingen in 1990 after a lifetime in Kansas City. She made a full and wonderful life here and considered herself very fortunate to find this warm and beautiful place, with many, many wonderful friends. She was planning her 100th birthday party in May.
She was a member of the Harlingen Country Club, VFW Womenâ€™s Group in Kansas City, Harlingen Garden Club, Christ the King Church in Kansas City, MO and St. Anthony Church in Harlingen. Katy was PTA president, Girl Scout Leader, and Ladies Alter Society President.
She enjoyed gardening, going to the Bridge Club, candy making, and working at the gift shop at Marine Military Academy.
Katy is survived by children, Loretta Burd (Chuck) of Harlingen and Lillian Decker (John) of Sanibel, FL; grandchildren, Patricia McCrea Ghebe of Cedar Rapids, IA, Karen Conrad Hall of St Louis, MO, Jeffrey R McCrea of San Antonio, TX; great-grandchildren, Taylor Hall of St. Louis, MO and Courtney Hall of St. Louis, MO; and brother-in-law Oz Kincaid of San Francisco, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Loretta Kincaid.
A memorial service will be held Monday, February 08, 2016, at 11:00 am, at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home. A private burial will be held.
Pallbearers will be her sons-in-law, Chuck Burd and John Decker.
The family requests memorial donations may be made to Shrinerâ€™s Cripple Childrenâ€™s Hospital or the VFW.
Our thanks to Yvonne Hamlin and Maria Elena Zuniga, her wonderful caregivers who brought her peace, love and a precious little dog name Jimmy. Thanks to Dr. Robert Holder and Dr. Jason Peters and their nurses and office staff. Gentiva Hospice for allowing her to die at home.
