Martin C. Bustamante, Sr.
Martin Chavarria Bustamante Sr., a native of Atascosa County, Texas, long-time resident of Flint, Michigan and current resident of Grand Prairie, died on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at a local care center.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial with military honors will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Martin was born on September 29, 1923, the son of the late Selso Bustamante and Consuelo Chavarria. He would be drafted into the US Army, just prior to the conclusion of World War II.
At the war's end, he would move to Michigan where he would work for General Motors for thirty-two years. He was a faithful employee, working many hours on the assembly line.
After his retirement, Martin and his wife, the late Beatrix Bustamante would travel many miles together in their motor home. Martin always loved the outdoors, and took every opportunity to visit many parks in the northern United States and Canada.
He is survived by children; Martin Bustamante Jr. and his spouse Connie Valdez, Delores B. Bordayo, David Bustamante; grandchildren, Monica Bustamante, Marty Bustamante, Rene Bustamante, Eddie Castillo, Emma Castillo, Sasha Bustamante-Ridgway; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Evangelina Gonzales
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Yolanda Bustamante; grandson, Ricky Castillo; siblings, Joe Alonzo, Alfredo Alonzo, Elvira Alonzo, Adolfo Alonzo and Jessie Alonzo.
