In Loving Memory of
Lucille Barrientos, known as Lucy to her friends, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at a hospital in Dallas, Texas following a lengthy illness.
Rosary: 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial: Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens.
Lucy was born on November 8, 1953, the daughter of the late Joaquin Perez and Evagelina Venegas in Fort Worth, Texas. The family would move to Oak Cliff where Lucy would attend schools, graduating from Sunset High School in 1972.
She would start her professional life as a Phlebotomist, then progressing to a PatternMaker. She would attend college, earning an Associates Degree in Applied Science that would lead to her becoming a secretary at Charleton Methodist Hospital, where she would work in the ER Department.
Lucy was always busy. When not working at her professional jobs, she would work a side-job at home, baking cakes. A gifted seamstress, she also had the talent to sew beautiful clothing.
On various occasions, she would allow herself a little free time, enjoying a getaway to the casinos in Oklahoma and Louisiana. She also enjoyed time with family, traveling to local festivals in outlying cities. One of her favorites was the Peach Festival celebrated in Weatherford.
Lucy was a strong woman, but was deeply grieved and saddened at the loss of her husband, Gregorio in June of 2014. While her life was full of activities, she relished the quiet times of reflection and solitude. Her passing leaves a great void in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Christopher Cantu, Clarisa Cantu; 21 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 stepchildren; siblings, Jose Luis Perez, Jose Angel Perez, Larence Perez, Marisol Perez and Magelena Pedregon.
