Frank Hernandez Medrano
Frank Hernandez Medrano, 91, died peacefully at his home in Dallas on Tuesday, September 9, 2014.Visitation: 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home, 500 E. Main Street, Grand Prairie with a Vigil Service at 7. Mass of Christian Burial: 12 noon on Friday at Calvary Hill North Mausoleum, 3235 Lombardy, Dallas, Texas. Burial: Calvary Hill Cemetery.Frank was born on December 2, 1923, the son of the late Miguel Medrano and the late Juanita Hernandez Medrano. At the beginning of World War II, Frank would join the US Army. His service would include tours in Normandy, Belgium and Germany where he would serve with the 133rd Field Artillery Battalion as a medic.After his military service, he would return to Dallas where he would settle into a job with Gifford-Hill. He would retire at the age of 66 after a long-tenured time of service, working many faithful hours as a supervisor.When he was younger, he loved to dance. After his retirement, Frank enjoyed many hours working in his yard. He often joked that his wife of 60 years, Mary, loved giving orders and he was good at taking them. He was an avid reader of the newspaper, reading the Dallas Morning News every day. Frank was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dallas.Survivors: son, John Humberto Garcia; step-son, John Robles and his wife Mary; grandchildren, John Richard Robles and his wife Karen, Virginia Robles Greene and her husband James "Jim", Diana Robles Collier, Marisa Robles; Lisa Marie Garcia Story and her husband Archie, Sarah Garcia and 7 great-grandchildren.
