Elbert Homer Stone Jr.
Elbert "Homer" Stone Jr. 83, a native of Dallas, Texas, died on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at a local hospital in Arlington, Texas.Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home, 500 E. Main Street, Grand Prairie, Texas, 75050. A private burial will occur at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.Homer was born on May 24, 1931, the youngest of 4 children born to the late Elbert Stone Sr and the late Lavena Crouch Stone. He retired in 1983 from Texas Instruments where he had been employed as a machinist. He would continue to work for Ace Hardware in Grand Prairie, where he had been employed for more than 25 years.Homer enjoyed tinkering with electronics. He had his own shop, building the first color television that he owned. He was skilled in many areas, including working with wood.Survivors: children Ronald Wayne Stone, Iris Ball and her spouse James; step-children, Debra "Deb" Brubaker and her husband Don, Sharon Hanifin; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by and a son, Kenny, and wives Iris Stone and Minnie Porst Jones Stone.
