Joy Underwood Shack, affectionately known as "MeeMaw" to her loving family, went to Heaven on December 20, 2014 from her home in Graham, Texas. A beautiful lady, with a bright smile and kind heart, now walks with God in "The Grandest Garden of Flowers".

Joy was born March 10, 1937 in Young County, Texas to Morris O. and Mildred Soles Underwood. She married Nathan L. Shack on January 13, 1977 in Graham. Joy was preceded in death by her parents, "PawPaw and Granny Wood", a sister, Janis Snyder and niece, Julie Kay Underwood.

Joy worked many years as a dental assistant for Dr. K. P. Green in Graham. While with Dr. Green, she made many friends who still talk about her gentle manner and holding their hands while in surgery. Deciding to make a change of careers, she purchased and owned Olney Floral from 1975-1996 and Joy’s Downtown Flowers in Graham from 1977-2010. Again, Joy Shack was known for her friendly smile and outgoing personality, especially in times of family sorrow.

She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Graham, where she served in many capacities through the years. Joy was a Texas Master Florist and member of many floral organizations throughout Texas and the USA. She served on The Board of Directors for Graham Regional Medical Center and was Past President and Member of the Board of Directors for Graham Chamber of Commerce. Joy Shack loved Young County and was a major supporter of its schools and their activities. Her favorite words of kindness to all folks, both big and small were "bless your baby heart" â€" and Joy Shack, you truly blessed the hearts of us all.

Memorial services for Joy will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 23rd at First United Methodist Church in Graham, Texas with Dr. Richard Reed officiating. McMillan- Satterwhite Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
