Henry Hughes King
Henry Hughes King, age 96 went to be with the Lord, October 7, 2014 in Graham, Texas. Services will be Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 11:00am at McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Harden officiating. Interment will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery, Bryson, Texas.
Henry was born March 6, 1918, Jack County, south of Bryson to Ellis and Maudie Mae King. Henry was preceded in death by his parents and 7 brothers and sisters.
He served our country with honor in World War II; stationed in the Philippines, he was captured by the Japanese. By his faith and will to live, survived what many soldiers didnâ€™t; the 85 mile Bataan Death March and 3-1/2 horrifying years as slave labor in a POW camp.
He returned, received his degree, and worked for Texas Instruments and Motorola for over 30 years. He started Paradise Trade Days swap meet which was located near his home place. Henry served the Veterans of Foreign Wars as Commander of Post #8567 locally, and was recognized nationally.
Henry leaves his loving companion and caregiver Glenda Scheriger of the home, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
