    Leona Macha was born on April 22, 1920 in El Campo to Lillian and John Kruppa. She passed away peacefully on January 25, 2016. She married Ralph Macha June 18, 1942 in New Orleans, LA at the Air Force Chapel.

    Leona attended El Campo Schools and the Draughn's Business College in Houston. She was employed as a secretary by AJ Wendel Properties and later by Russell M. Johnson. She was then employed for 22 years at the First National Bank where she worked in the bookkeeping department. She later served as Secretary to the bank President and as an assistant Vice President until retirement.

    She was active in many church and community organizations. Leona was a lifelong member of St. Philip Catholic Church and served on the Administrative Boards under four pastors. She was also a charter member of the Catholic Daughters, Court #1374, and later served as Vice President and Grand Regent. Leona was the original President of the St. Philip School Endowment Fund. She also was a member of the Woman's Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and SPJST Local Lodge.

    As a lifelong member of the El Campo community, she served as a volunteer for Community Hospice and worked as an election judge in Wharton County for many years.

    Leona is survived by her daughters, Garnett Larza and husband Edward of Franklin, TX and Susan Haynie of Kerrville, TX; four grandchildren, David Larza and wife MiMi of Tomball, Karen Mullen and husband Mike of Houston, Jill Haynie of Santa Monica, CA and Chris Haynie and wife Jeannette of Alexandria, VA and eleven great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Macha and sister, Anona Mohan.

    A memorial service will be held at Triska Funeral Home on February 2 at 1 p.m.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Philip School Endowment Fund, 304 W. Church St., El Campo, TX 77437.
