In Loving Memory of
Bernice Barnett Rek, formerly of El Campo, died February 11, 2016 at the age of 79. She was born on June 25, 1936 in El Campo to the late Willie and Agnes Glueck Barnett. She was a longtime nurse having worked at Nightingale Hospital, Czech Catholic Home, Garden Villa Nursing Home and St. Philip School. After retiring from nursing, she worked at the Boys and Girls Club. She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter Dennice deGraffenried of Magnolia, son William Rek and his wife Denise of El Campo, grandchildren Peyton and Jake deGraffenried, Kathlyn, Meredith and Megan Rek; and sister Nancy Erdelt of Bellville. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Eugene Rek.
Visitation will begin 1 pm Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Triska Funeral Home with a parish wake service at 5 pm. The Funeral Mass will be 11 am Monday, February 15, 2016, at St. Philip Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Rother officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.
