In Loving Memory of
Trinidad G. Vera
Trinidad (Trini) Garcia Vera died peacefully at home surrounded by a loving family on March 6, 2016 in Georgetown, Texas. She was born September 4, 1921 to Arcadio, Sr. and Petrita Vergara Garcia in Nuevo Laredo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
Trini spent her early years in Laredo and Benavides, Texas with her family. It was in Benavides where she met the love of her life, David R. Vera. They married November 17, 1946.
Her talents were many, but the motor that motivated her was always her love of family. Trini and Dave raised four children in Corpus Christi and set a wonderful example of how a good work ethic, a gregarious sense of being, and lots of love can lead to a successful life. While raising her children and keeping a smooth running household, Trini studied and received her GED. She enjoyed working with younger children in the public schools and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her home was open to all, with wonderful food and treats always available. No one left hungry or without lots of love.
Trini’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of Trini’s kind and generous spirit, zest for life, and love of ball games will live on through them. Her passion for slot machines will also take a clinking spot in their lives. She was an entertaining story teller who kept her young and old audiences captivated; and her sense of humor was known to children and adults alike. She could tell a joke.
Trini will always be missed and never forgotten. She leaves our hearts with much sadness but with fond memories of merriment and love.
Besides her husband, Trini is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Eudelio Garcia, Arcadio Garcia, Jr., five sisters, María Luisa Brewster, Juanita Donovan, Petra Escutia, Genoveva Maldonado, Belia (Billie) Gonzales, one son, David René Vera and one grandson, Patrick James Halley Cummins. She is survived by one brother, Homero Garcia Sr., three children, Diana Cummins, Cynthia Vera and Daniel Vera, nine grandchildren, Gavin D. Cummins, Corbett H. Cummins, Amara Vera, Caresse Vera, David P. Vera, Joaquín D. Garza, William E. Garza, Samuel D. Vera, Javier Vera and five great-grandchildren, Lucy Adame, Antonio Adame, Levi Adame, Ashe B. Garza and Kiernan G. Garza.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2016 with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Seaside Reid Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Seaside Reid Chapel with entombment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
