    Birth Date: Feb 19th, 1944 Death Date: Mar 7th, 2016
    Dagoberto Aguirre Vela, passed away on March 7, 2016, at the age of 72. He was born in Mexico to Artemio and Dominga Vela. He graduated from Robstown High School in 1963 and continued his education at Durham Business School and Del Mar College, where he met his beautiful wife of 45 years. Dagoberto was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, cousin and friend. Dagoberto retired from Govind and Associates in 2003, where he worked as a Senior Project Engineer. He had previously worked at Smith and Russo, and Maverick Engineering.

    Dagoberto devoted his time and energy volunteering at the Food Bank and Tourist and Convention Center in San Marcos, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in New Braunfels, and the Social Justice Commission in Corpus Christi. He also enjoyed gardening, photography, and carpentry. He will always be remembered for his constant smile, positive attitude, compassion and kindness to others, service to the community and commitment to his family.

    Dagoberto Vela is preceded in death by Artemio Vela, father; Dominga Vela, mother; and Dora Vela, sister. He is survived by his wife, Rosie Vela; daughters, Monica and Veronica Vela; sister, Nora (George) DeLuna; brothers, Art (Cyndi) Vela, Ovidio Vela, Octavio (Eileen) Vela; granddaughter, Akira (Desmond) VelaLozano, as well as 37 nieces and nephews.

    Visitation, Rosary, and an evening of shared memories will be held from 6:00-9:00pm on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3:00pm on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5830 Williams Dr., Corpus Christi, TX 78412. A private Inurnment service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016.
