    Funeral services for Mr. James Fannin, 82, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 15, 2016 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Edwards and Mr. James Moon officiating. Burial will follow in the Restland Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Fannin passed away February 11, 2016 at his home in Carthage.

    Mr. James Franklin Fannin was born January 17, 1934 in Talladega, Alabama. He was one of seven children born to Nolan Luther and Alma Cannon Fannin. Mr. Fannin served his country through the United States Army as a Military Policeman. James was a machinist and owner of Panola Machine Company and loved working, watching and coaching baseball, watching the Western Channel, bush hogging and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Fannin was of the Baptist faith and also served on the Rehobeth Water Board. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Lester E. Fannin; brothers, Nolan Fannin, Jr., Clarence Fannin, Jerry L. Fannin; sister, Alma Jo Fannin.

    Mr. Fannin is survived by his children, Luther Fannin of Carthage, Teena Casper and husband Frank of Carthage, Kathy Fannin Boggs and husband Paul of Carthage; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Fannin of Beckville; sisters, Hope Broughton and husband Davy of Talladega, AL, Sandra McGaughey of Tyler; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Fannin of Macedonia, AR, Helen "Monkey" Fannin of Elkhart; grandchildren, Bridgett Harvey and husband Rusty, Kari Anderson, Earl Fannin and wife Casey, Kimberly Mills and husband Aaron, Josh Boggs and wife Cassy, Ashley Thomason and husband Justin; 12 great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

    Serving as pallbearers will be Don Shull, Earl Fannin, Charles Schelhouse, Frank Casper, Aaron Mills and David Boggs. Honorary pallbearers will be James Moon, Gordan McDonald and Josh Boggs.
