In Loving Memory of
Robert William Hoffman
Robert "Bob" Hoffman, born September 12, 1938, in McAllen, Texas, passed away on February 13, 2016 in College Station, Texas. Bob was a 1957 graduate of Rio Hondo High School where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Aouida Canville. He is a 1961 graduate of Texas A&M College where he received a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a member of K-Company in the Corps of Cadets and went on to serve in the United States Army at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After serving his country, he went to work for E.I Dupont in Bloomington, Texas as a chemical engineer where he remained for 38 years until his retirement in 2001. He was truly a genius with numbers!
Bob loved fishing, his Fightin’ Texas Aggies and food. He was a "foodie" before being a foodie was cool! As a Granddad, he always made sure his grandchildren were fed, and had plenty of spending money; whether it was a Saturday morning run to Shipley’s, pre-game lunch at Randy Sims BBQ or dinner at Wings n More, complete with plenty of quarters for the video games and the candy machines. Later in life, he became quite the connoisseur of a root beer float.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Frances Verble Hoffman. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Aouida Canville Hoffman and his sister Bennie Jean Funkhouser (Harold), of Oklahoma. He is also survived by his sons Robert Jay (Donna) Hoffman; Anton Greg (Anne) Hoffman, all of College Station; Robin Aouida (Ray) Bryant of Antioch, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Erin (Jud) Burge; Jacob (Katie) Hoffman all of Austin; Erik (Zoie) Hoffman of Pensacola, Florida; Kyle Hoffman of College Station; Grace and Nathan Bryant of Antioch, Tennessee and one great granddaughter, Scarlett Anne Hoffman of Austin; as well as beloved nieces and nephews.
