James "Jim" E. Brewster IV
March 7, 1943 - June 22, 2015
James Edward Brewster IV passed away June 22, 2015 in the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility. A time for family to receive friends will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 25 at Hillier Funeral Home, 2301 East 29th Street in Bryan. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 26, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Madisonville City Cemetery.
Jim was born March 7, 1943 at Fort Riley, Kansas to James E. Brewster III and Mildred E. (Nelson) Brewster. Jim was raised on his grandparentsâ€™ farm outside of Temple, TX. He was active in 4-H and raised and showed Shropshire sheep and Angus steers. Jim was also very active in Boy Scouts where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was inducted into the Order of The Arrow.
Upon graduation from Temple High School in 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Martha E. Lindsey. The fall of 1961 saw Jim and Martha in married student housing at Texas A&M. Jim graduated with his BS in Animal Science in 1969 and his Masterâ€™s in Business Administration in 1971.
He worked for the US Department of Agriculture-National Agricultural Statistical Service, serving in California, Utah, Washington D.C. and Georgia for 34 years. Upon retirement in 2009, Jim and family moved back to Bryan where he enjoyed Aggie sports and being close to family. Jim & Martha celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Brewster of Bryan; sons, James David Brewster of Winterville, GA and Philip E. Brewster of Bryan; sister, Janie Lueckemeyer (Jerrell) of Bryan; niece Leslie Lueckemeyer of Houston; step-dad, Raymond Schafer of Bryan; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Jeanes (Bill) of Wheelock; and several cousins who had a special place in Jimâ€™s heart.
