Conrad Samuel Pickens
Conrad S. Pickens passed away at Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital, Baytown, Texas, February 4, 2015. He was 85 years old.
He is survived by his Wife Frances, Son Mark and Daughter Robin. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Mitchell Eugene and Norma Evelyn, Brothers Mitch, Billy and Sister Pat. Conrad was born in Socorro, New Mexico on March 19, 1929. He played high school football as quarterback and enjoyed boxing. After graduating from Socorro High School he served and continued boxing in the United States Navy. After discharge from the Navy, he married the former Noeline Mounyo of Socorro, were employed by the Sandia Corporation and started their family in Albuquerque. He then pursued starting his own business and also began a study in martial arts including Judo and Karate. Years later, after moving to Baytown, Texas he established the Baytown Karate School and for over 20 years, inspired numerous students within the community. He achieved the rank of Master, 8th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He then began a passion with golf and was proud of a documented "Hole in One" at a Bay City, Texas golf course. Conrad lived a full, active life, he loved his friends and family. He touched many lives and will be missed but not forgotten.
