    Mary Ellen Lentz went peacefully to her eternal home on October 21, 2015.

    Mary Ellen (Smith) Lentz was born December 9, 1924 to Foster and Blanche (Hays) Smith on a farm near Mound City, Missouri. She graduated salutatorian from Mound City High School in 1943. Mary Ellen married Merle Dean Lentz on February 6, 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana. They were married for 65 years.

    Mary Ellen was a homemaker, raising three sons, sewing their clothes, and being a den mother for Cub Scouts. After their three sons were grown she worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 17 years. Mary Ellen was an active member of Hyde Park Christian Church and Christian Women's Fellowship of Austin, Texas. She was a weekly volunteer at Seton Medical Center for 25 years. Mary Ellen and Merle enjoyed traveling in their RV for many years.

    Survivors include sons and daughter-in- laws : Rick and Susan Lentz of New Point, MO, Bob and Colleen Lentz of Ft. Collins, CO, Kevin and Wanda Lentz of Cedar Creek, TX; grandchildren: Rich (Penne) Lentz of Lexington , KY, Sarah (Clint) Smith of Columbia, MO, Elizabeth (Ben) Schaeffer of Ft. Wayne, IN, Justin Lentz of Highlands Ranch, CO, Wesley Lentz (fiancée Teresa Flores) of Corpus Christi , TX, and Garrett Lentz of Austin, TX; great grandchildren: Jack and Nick Lentz, Foster and Sylvia Smith, and Mick Schaeffer; step great grandchildren Sam, Frank and Maxine Policky; sisters-in -law Joan Smith of Mound City, MO, and Ruthanna Lentz of Cheyenne, WY, nieces, nephews, family and many friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Merle, brother Bob, and an infant son.

    A celebration of life will be held at Hyde Park Christian Church, Austin, TX, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015. Burial will follow at Cook Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers Mary Ellen would appreciate memorial contributions to the Salvation Army.
