Bruce Coleman Rudy
Bruce Coleman Rudy, age 72, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Austin, Texas after a six month battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Phyllis, as well as his daughter Sherrie and her husband Will, and his son Bruce and his wife Lydia. His legacy is also carried on by his five grandchildren whom he loved very much: Ellise, Bryant, Cole, Eli, and Sonia. Bruce is also survived by his two cousins, George Cochran and Robin Anderson.
Bruce was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Harry and Helen Rudy who preceded him in death. After high school, Bruce went on to receive multiple degrees including a B.S. in Education from East Stroudsburg University, a Masters from Clemson University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Georgia. He also received a MBA from Columbia University and graduated from Harvard Business School's Program for Management Development.
Bruce worked for over 30 years for a number of different pharmaceutical companies. Working predominately in the manufacturing, operations and engineering functions, Bruce had the opportunity to travel the world extensively which offered him a broad perspective on life. In his free time, Bruce focused his energies on his family and his many interests which included playing tennis, hunting, card games and watching sports. Long known for his positive outlook on life and his sense of humor, Bruce will be remembered as someone who loved his family deeply.
A private memorial service will be held at a date in the near future for family members. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (http://www.cancer.org/index) or the Alzheimer's Association (http://www.alz.org/).
